7 Days in El Salvador
Spend one week exploring the capital, volcanoes, archaeological sites, Ruta de las Flores and the La Libertad surf coast at a comfortable pace.
Suggested route
Day 1: Arrive and explore San Salvador
Settle in, explore a manageable section of the capital and enjoy a Salvadoran dinner.
Day 2: El Boquer贸n and city culture
Visit the volcano area in cooler morning weather, then choose a museum, viewpoint or the Historic Center.
Day 3: Santa Ana Volcano
Leave early and follow current park and guide requirements. Do not schedule a distant evening activity.
Day 4: Lake Coatepeque and archaeology
Enjoy the lake and choose Tazumal or Joya de Cer茅n depending on your route.
Day 5: Ruta de las Flores
Travel through selected towns such as Juay煤a, Apaneca and Ataco, focusing on food, coffee and local culture.
Day 6: El Tunco, El Sunzal or El Zonte
Choose the beach community that matches your interests. Book instruction if you want to surf.
Day 7: La Libertad and departure buffer
Enjoy the coast while keeping enough time for airport traffic, car return or your shuttle.
Adjust it to your interests
Use the itinerary planner to prioritize beaches, surfing, mountains, food and coffee, culture, ruins, nightlife, horseback riding or 4脳4 experiences. A relaxed pace works best if you prefer long meals and hotel time; an active pace adds more stops each day.
Before departure
Confirm attraction hours, reservations, weather, road conditions and travel time. Avoid crossing the entire country repeatedly: group nearby destinations and use one accommodation base for consecutive days when practical.
